About Us

Alumni of Pitman High School was born out of a shared desire among graduates from 24 different classes to create a unified space for all Pitman High School alumni. Formed in 2023, we recognized the challenges of staying connected and the missed opportunities for recognizing PHS milestones. Our passion lies in bringing together individuals who have walked the same halls, shared the same memories, and now seek to reconnect. We understand the importance of community and the unique bond that comes from being a Pitman High School graduate.

That being said, we do not carry a balance of any funds year to year.  Our events are either sponsored by alumni anonymously or we charge what it costs. We also work with other graduating classes wishing to offer scholarships to enhance the experience of being a PHS graduate.  Our true value is building a comprehensive alumni directory, coordinating networking events, and living in town so that our information is as up-to-date as possible.  We strive to make it easier than ever to stay connected.

Together, we can rekindle old friendships and create new ones, all while celebrating our common roots in Pitman, New Jersey.

By-Laws

Purpose: To foster connections between alumni from Pitman High School in Pitman, N.J. and allow for the sharing of experiences, professional support, and growth of our alma mater.
Founding Goals: Recognize the 100th Graduating Class of PHS through communication modes and events (06/13/25); Bring in notable PHS Alumni throughout the 120th Anniversary Year of the founding of Pitman (2025) to celebrate milestone reunions with alumni; and support recognition of the Pitman United Methodist Church 140th Anniversary (11/10/25).
Long-term Goals: Sustain and nurture the PHS alumni network to ensure long-term availability of resources to all future attendees and graduates of our alma mater.
Organization Structure: The leadership team comprised of, at minimum, a Chair, Vice-Chair and Communications Coordinator all times to operate APHS. The team is required to create, manage and update social media pages/websites as appropriate and monitor requests, to the best of their ability, to ensure only alumni are included. They are required to meet (in person or virtually) at least once a year, keep an up-to-date alumni list and host at least one reunion-related event every 5 years (0 and 5). On the year of the reunion related event, the team should meet at least three times to plan, promote and hold the event. The Chair is responsible for Alumni Relations to sustain Alumni sponsored events as needed
Further, the leadership team is expected to connect with, coordinate, collaborate and support other local Pitman High School organizations (Individual class councils, Hall of Fame, PHS Board of Education) that may already be established. Until such time APHS has sufficient status/support to file as its own non-profit entity it will not collect funds in excess of the cost for planned events (i.e. if an event ticket is $15, that should cover the cost of the person to attend the event, tax and tip) and/or merchandise (tshirts cost $10, APHS charges $10). APHS is not designed to manage or raise any funds; it may only assist in coordinating larger Alumni efforts with individual graduating classes.
Any PHS graduated alumni may serve as Chair, Vice-Chair and Coordinator; if more than one person wishes to run for any given position, active members will be asked to vote. Active members are defined as anyone that attends the yearly meeting, sponsors an event or volunteers in support of an event.
Membership Requirements: Any individual that attended at least one of four years at PHS as a student (freshman, sophomore, junior or senior level) is eligible to join PHSAA. Graduation from PHS is not required, merely attendance for a full year. At anytime members may offer to lead a committee to manage activities or events in support of organizational activities such as communication, fundraising, scholarships, memorabilia, events, etc. but they must unanimously be approved by the Chair, Vice-Chair and Coordinator.
Organizational Activities: Create networking events, mentorship programs, career development, workshops, sponsorships, general gatherings and a comprehensive list of alumni to stay up to date on alumni news.
Membership Benefits: Provide access to a wider professional network, career advice, opportunities to support of each other, our school district and positive progression of Pitman.
Use of External Resources: While there are likely alumni capable of completing everything needed in support of PHSAA organizational activities, we reserve the right to utilize friends and family willing to provide free support of any approved activities.
